Pompey Women Promoted To Championship

Blues granted tier two licence

27 April 2024

Portsmouth Football Club are thrilled to announce that Pompey Women have been promoted to the Barclays Women's Championship.

Despite being crowned champions of the National League Southern Premier Division earlier in April, clubs still need to obtain a licence to play in the second tier of women's football.

And following a thorough application process, the club's place in the Championship has been confirmed for 2024/25.

"I'm absolutely delighted that the application was successful and the club have been awarded a tier two licence – and with it confirmation of promotion."

Andrew Cullen

CEO Andrew Cullen said: "I'm absolutely delighted that the application was successful and the club have been awarded a tier two licence – and with it confirmation of promotion.

"Jay, his team and the staff have had a fantastic season and are now rewarded not only with a title win, but the promotion to the Championship to go with it.

"I'd like to thank those who contributed to the application, particularly Bill Griffiths, who played a crucial part in collating all the material for the final submission."
